"On Hannah Hoch's just-released Floeberg, Stress's compositions-- comprised of intricately stitched-together bits of found sound and layered with abstract synthesizer atmospherics-- are definitely cold, as bolstered by the icy track titles. But despite their sonic frigidity, the pieces are inviting, drawing the listener in with not only their swatches of auditory nothingness, but also their interplay between alien and familiar sounds. In the case of a piece like "Frazil," a Floeberg standout, the interplay is marked by strange metallic clattering and very real, organic wind sounds. The effect is unsettling at first, but ultimately calming. (Also, in case you're interested, frazil ice is a group of ice crystals in water. Kinda cool.)" - Ad Hoc
